To accompany our recent endevour Powder Detours and the previously established Instructor Training Academy, we have started a small, exclussive private lesson ski and snowboard school in Niseko.

The school has been on ice for a while, waiting to launch properly; and now it's here.

Closing Day at Cardrona

This year we decided to wrap up our season in Wanaka, NZ by filming the closing day at Cardrona. Such a fun day, riding with Roberto Marfia, Jesse Druxerman and others.

New Website for Niseko Academy

Last month we launched a new website for a business I'm becoming more involved with in Niseko, Japan. The company was originally called Instructor Training Academy, but we have just re-branded it as Niseko Academy.

This particular website is for the instructor training side of the business - Niseko Instructor Training Academy. My involvement with them is as the Head Snowboard Trainer and Web Communications. As the driving force and strategist behind the website, I created the information architecture, wireframes and overall concept, but utilised the more specialist skills of graphic designer Jesse Druxerman and developer Doug Somerville for various aspects.

Check out the new website here.

Making the most of things

Rough start to the season this year in NZ. Driving up to Snowpark for my first riding day of the season was surreal. It felt like I was actually heading up to shuttle the Snowpark road on mountain bikes. But we had boards not bikes. Here's a quick post on Snow.co.nz about it.

As this was the first chance to work with Fabrice Wittner, a very creative French photographer who happens to be my neighbour this season, we kept our motivation levels high and made the most out of the minimal snow, finding some interesting angles to shoot. Here's a taste of Fabrice's creativity...

Check out this post Fabrice wrote on his blog. We've got some interesting plans to work together this season on various ideas, so watch this space.

P.S. Making the most out of things seems to have worked - it's now snowing as I type.

Article for NZsnowboard.com

Following on from the coaching conference we had in Wanaka last week that I discussed in this post, I wrote a piece for NZsnowboard.com describing the conference in more detail.

The article outlines Bud Keene's presentations and focuses on what we as SBINZ Trainers got out of it. It was a great conference and a pleasure to meet and learn from the World's most renowned Snowboard Coach.

Itinerary Brochures for Powder Detours

With things in Japan settling down, it's been time to focus on marketing our products for next year.

I've been hard at work in Photoshop and Illustrator this week, working on PDF itinerary brochures for our trips in Hokkaido. 2012 will see a new product called the 'Powder Experience Week', aimed at intermediate skiers and riders just getting into the deep stuff.

Check out the itinerary...
